Gamers get a bad wrap, companies a worse one.
To correct the record for some of them.
Gamer hangouts have always been my church, I should explain because I certainly don’t worship there. It’s a place where everyone is equal, where rich and poor alike come, the sinners and the saints so to speak. In Good Games in Brisbane, there was a regular who had brain damage and everyone looked out for him, he felt safe there. Glad to have one here in Heretic Haven (HH).
However today I want to talk about companies and the people who do it right. So often we only see faceless conglomerates who would suck out your soul for a 0.1 increase in the yearly review. There are three companies I want to highlight; Kingdom Death, Raging Heroes and Archon studios. The people who get it right!
Kingdom Death and the person who runs it, Adam Poots has had a rough time, his mum had died and he is set up in New York and if you watch the news not the best place to be the last two years.
I have backed his Kickstarter and one time there was a long delay and it got to the point where I messaged and said, I saw your update should I be worried? Not only was it fixed up but he sent something extra! Now that is the way to run a business.
I guess being a polite customer and not yelling or going mental when something is delayed helps.
Raging Heroes, or Heroes Infinite by Raging Heroes ha ha. I was looking, asking a question of them and just expected a template reply we do X, Y, and Z but no the lady manning the desk went all out!
She was personal and friendly and I didn’t expect it. I became a subscriber on their website (not Pateron yay!) and it got even better. A very tired European dude on the team went through every single piece of feedback where he had asked for it and addressed it one by one not rushing through and you could still see the excitement there.
Archon studios if you have a long memory (and have me on Facebook), you may remember me talking about them before. They are the people who stopped production of their gaming products to make PPE gear for hospitals in their region.
However, with things the way they are I messaged them and I said “I hope your new thing is successful but I won’t be able to support because of how things are.” and a really heart warming letter came back. That’s real kindness which isn’t seen in business often.
You know I am just starting to think there is a mild possibility of all of these people with bad reputations… they may not deserve them. Okay some definitely do (*cough* Amazon *cough*) but, not these folks mentioned. All of them have real character, and characters working for them.
