Understanding Blue:
Sister of Battle
Character level
This Warhammer 40,000 Sister of Battle was painted to character level as the model for our Understanding Blue video. The project focused on using blue as more than just a colour choice, exploring how value, saturation, contrast, and placement can shape the feel of a miniature.
Video brief
This model was created to support our video on blue, covering both the psychology of the colour and the practical choices that make it work on a miniature. We wanted the armour, cloth, weapon, and shadows to show different ways blue can behave: calm, cold, noble, spiritual, or intense, depending on how it is used. It gave us a chance to connect colour theory to an actual painted model instead of leaving it as abstract advice.
Understanding Blue
We made this model for our Understanding Blue video, where we talk through the colour psychology of blue and how to make it work in miniature painting. The video covers practical choices like contrast, saturation, highlights, shadows, and the hands-on side of painting.
This is the kind of thinking we can bring into a custom project. Colour can do more than look nice. It can support the mood, identity, story, and meaning of a miniature, sometimes in ways the client may not have considered yet.
