A Whole D&D Adventure in Miniature

Tabletop and Character level

This large D&D miniature painting project was completed alongside another major commission for the same client. The project included a mix of 3D printed miniatures, Dungeons & Lasers models by Archon Studio, and Frostgrave models by North Star Military Figures.

The client wanted a broad collection of tabletop and character-level miniatures for their adventures, including monsters, NPCs, bandits, cultists, kobolds, and custom player characters. Postage became more complicated than expected, but we found a way through it, and the client has been very happy with the work.

Client instructions

We were asked to paint a number of figures for Stranger Things-inspired adventures. The client also wanted custom player characters based around Venom, Spider-Man, and Cinnamoroll. Those player characters were painted to character level, while the rest of the project was painted to tabletop level.

Summarised Process

  • Prints & Conversions

We started with the client’s list of models to print, then used existing kits and conversions to create the requested characters.

  • Priming

Using an airbrush, we zenithal primed the prints and plastic models to prepare them for painting.

  • Painting

We used contrast paints to establish the main colours, then added details with base paints and brushwork.

  • Basing

We used a mix of pre-sculpted kit bases and our own basing materials to tie the project together.
