Tzeentch Lord of Change
Showcase level
This Warhammer Tzeentch Lord of Change was painted to showcase level, with a focus on vibrant blues, magical colour transitions, detailed feathers, glowing effects, and the strange sense of movement expected from a daemon of change. The model gave us plenty of room to push contrast, texture, and character while keeping the overall scheme tied together.
Client instructions
The client gave us a lot of creative freedom with the concept, so we leaned into the themes of magic, mutation, and change. We wanted the model to feel bright, strange, and powerful, while still keeping the colours controlled enough that the details did not fight each other. The goal was a showcase piece that looked dramatic from a distance and rewarded closer inspection.
Summarised Process
-

Sub-assembly
This wasn’t our first rodeo with this model, so we knew the benefits of working in sub-assemblies.
-

Preparation for Vibrancy
We used inks, airbrushing, and white underpainting so the later colours would stay bright, vibrant, and magical.
-

Detailing
We painted the smaller details while the model was still in sub-assemblies, before bringing everything together.

Tzeentch Interferes
This is what happens when a composite goes wrong. We kept it as a glimpse behind the curtain, and because sometimes Tzeentch has other plans. Pretty trippy.
